For Ages 3-6

We believe that music education should begin early in life. Studies show that music connects the two hemispheres of the brain, and is crucial to the development of a child. At UpBeat, Early Childhood Music Education is our passion. We hope that your child will join us for a class.

Please note that children must be bathroom independent to attend class.

Saturday Songs

Saturday Songs is our once-monthly Saturday offering that allows students, both current and those not currently part of UpBeat, the opportunity to come on an Adventure with Miss Cora. This activity is a one time enrollment of $15 for the first child and $5 for each additional sibling. The theme is announced monthly with registration available online or by phone. Head over to our enrollment page to learn more.

Tippy Toes

Come explore movement with Miss Maribel! Tippy Toes is UpBeat's no pressure, no hidden cost, but ALL the fun, introduction to dance and movement. Students will be exposed to ballet, tumbling, movement exercises and body awareness exercises. This is a great opportunity for our Tiny Dancers who are not quite ready to sit through a traditional dance class at a studio. Extra Perk? Studies show that young children involved in rhythmic movement activities have a higher aptitude for learning music.

Preschool Music Trilogy

Why sign up for one class when you can take three? This class gives students 3.5-6 the opportunity to do short sessions of popular classes instead of one long session In this session, students will participate in active bucket drumming to learn rhythm and dynamics. Then, we will explore the concept of themes with Tunes & Tales. Each class will have a different theme which children will learn about through music, literature, and a craft or activity. To finish our year, students will take part in our Preschool Musical where they will learn parts, design costumes and sets and perform their short show at the Spring Recital.

Music In Me

Music in Me is a dynamic readiness program for young children with emphasis on ear training, solfege singing, music theory, movement, keyboard activities, pitch and rhythm awareness. Creativity is stressed as is parent involvement in class and at home. This class is for children 3.5-5 and Caregivers are required to attend.

Not only is the program a wonderful opportunity for parents to spend an evening with their child, having you in the room with them is proven to improve their understanding. Whether a student wants to be a pianist or not, we encourage all of our students to start their musical journey here. What can you expect from a class? A LOT!

During the course of a 45-minute class, students will sing, play classroom instruments, work on music theory at the white board, practice rhythm exercies, work on aural skills (also known as ear training), participate in keyboard exploration and activities, learn solfege (after all, do do do is a note we know!), and get all of our wiggles out with movement activities. These classes are desiged with children in mind, so we bounce from station to station every 3-5 minutes with the littles and work our way up from there. All materials are included in the cost of this class.

Rainbow Music

This preschool program teaches children about color patterning and music theory. We will explore the color wheel, create music using tone bars and our famous wall of boomwhackers while working on motor skill development. This class is geared towards 3-5 year olds.

Harmony Road 1

Ready to begin music education with your child? Have you been considering piano lessons? Come try our exclusive Harmony Road program! How exclusive? We are currently the only licensed Harmony Road facility in the state of Michigan! What we affectionately call "HR" is a dynamic music readiness program for young children and their caregiver. Not only is the program a wonderful opportunity for working parents to spend an evening with their child, having you in the room with them is proven to improve their understanding. Whether a student wants to be a pianist or not, we encourage all of our students to start their musical journey here.

What can you expect from a Harmony Road class? Class sizes are small, capping at seven students, and each class will set their own pace. Harmony Road is a multi-year arc culminating in a graduation ceremony about when students reach Middle School.

Students who graduate from Harmony Road have amazing aptitude for other instuments because they truely understand how music works. The Harmony Road graduation also lines up wonderfully with when students are ready to begin school band. Don't worry, once your child is ready to move on to a different instrument, they can still stay at UpBeat by studying privately with one of our instrument specialists.

As with all UpBeat group classes, there are no hidden fees - all lesson materials are included in your tuition.
